Toyota Japan Unveils New Fuel Cell Sedan

Toyota Fuel Cell Sedan

From the imagination of Toyota engineers to the pavement of international highways comes the future of driving. Toyota Motor Corporation has unveiled the exterior design of its hydrogen fuel cell sedan. Introduced to the world as a concept vehicle at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show, it will be available to the general public next year.

The vehicle runs on hydrogen fuel cell technology that Toyota has been developing for over 20 years. This includes a proprietary fuel cell stack, which generates electricity from the chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen in high pressure hydrogen tanks.

According to tests performed by the Japanese government, the car can cruise for about 700 km before needing to refuel. Refueling takes about three minutes and the car emits only water vapor.

Hydrogen refueling infrastructure is continually being developed around the world to better accommodate hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and this fits in nicely with Toyota’s commitment to the environment and creating eco-friendly vehicles.

Toyota’s philosophy was formed around the basis of embracing technology and utilizing an array of energy sources to develop the most fuel efficient vehicles, while promoting the movement with gasoline alternatives.
