Toyota Safety Sense | Tomorrow’s Innovation for Today’s Drivers
Toyota Safety Sense is an advanced series of active safety technologies that come in two packages, Toyota Safety Sense C and Toyota Safety Sense P, and are being offered on 2017 and 2018 models. These highly innovative systems are being offered on a large scale with extensive education efforts to ensure that Canadian drivers are utilizing the full potential of their protection.
Offering holistic collision prevention for Canadian drivers, Toyota Safety Sense is comprised of Toyota Safety Sense C and Toyota Safety Sense P, which work together to enhance driver awareness and control in a variety of situations. Toyota Safety Sense C includes three active safety technologies; Pre-Collision System, Lade Departure Alert, and Automatic High Beams. These systems are standard on the following models, starting with the 2017 model year: Toyota Yaris Hatchback, Toyota Prius c and Toyota Corolla iM. Four active safety technologies are provided with Toyota Safety Sense P, including Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Automatic High Beams. This package offers an increase in protection as it enhances the Pre-Collision System through a speed range and speed reduction increase as well as adding a Pedestrian Detection function. It enhances Lane Departure Alert through the addition of a Steering Assist function on certain models, as well as including the advanced Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. This System is available on the following models, starting with the 2017 model year: Toyota Corolla, Toyota Prius, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid, Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid. With either Toyota Safety Sense C or Toyota Safety Sense P, drivers are given the ability to mitigate collisions, stay in their lanes, and experience improved nighttime safety.
Toyota Canada is excited about the safety technology progress being made with Toyota Safety Sense and understands that in order to successfully introduce these technologies, Canadian drivers need to be provided with an opportunity to understand how they work. To accomplish this, Toyota Canada has launched an education campaign around Toyota Safety Sense to open an honest conversation with Canadians about the power and the limits of current and emerging safety technologies.
This campaign will include:
- Training Toyota Dealer staff through a series of training sessions across the country
- Hosting events for automotive journalists and other media that demonstrate the Toyota Safety Sense Technologies
- Offering Toyota customers tools for education about the safety systems in their new vehicle
- Raising awareness of Toyota Safety Sense to help Canadians understand the role that new technologies play in automobile safety
- Interaction opportunities that allow Canadians to experience Toyota, its vehicles and its technologies first-hand.
Toyota is the first automaker in the industry that has committed to making advanced systems standard on the large majority of models and trim levels sold in Canada. As stated by Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc, “Advanced safety systems are typically included only on luxury vehicles – but we feel they’re so important that everybody deserves to benefit from them. That’s why we’re democratizing advanced safety technologies – and will be including them on almost every model we produce.” Toyota Safety Sense is groundbreaking not only in its innovation, but in its availability and accessibility to Canadian Drivers.
