Toyota Star Safety System

Star Safety System Logo

Since January 2011, Toyota Canada has been advertising the Star Safety System as a standard feature in all 2011 models – but what is it? I don’t think they have spent enough time actually explaining what this is. Potential customers therefore may not see the value as they don’t understand what they’re getting in every single Toyota vehicle.

The Star Safety System is simply the name Toyota is trying to brand which encompasses six separate “active” safety systems. These 6 systems work together not to help you survive an accident but to help you avoid an accident in the first place. (There are additional features in the vehicles which come into play once an accident has happened. A good example are air bags which do not deploy until an accident has occurred but greatly increase your chances of surviving one.)

There is HUGE value in these active safety features and they all come standard in every Toyota.  They Include:

  • Vehicle Stability Control
  • Traction Control
  • Anti-Lock Braking System
  • Electronic Brake Force Distribution
  • Brake Assist
  • Smart Stop Technology

Some of these you may already have familiarity with such as Anti-Lock Brakes which have been around for years. Some however are newer technology so I have provided a link below that will explain each of them in detail. With Toyota, safety is not an option… It’s Standard Equipment.

If you would like to explore this in further detail – come in to Gateway Toyota. We’ll show you how they work!
