Toyota took center stage at the Canadian International Auto Show’s AutoConnect Showcase, showcasing its world-renowned advanced active safety research technologies that set the standard for the industry at AutoConnect.

Toyota has a number of vehicles currently available that are equipped with specialized advanced safety technologies, including the Lexus GS 350 that was on display at the auto show. The Lexus GS 350 includes Drive Assist technologies such as Driver Monitoring, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitor.

At the AutoConnect booth, visitors also got to see significant advances Toyota has pioneered in driver safety, including: GPS, stereo cameras, radar and Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) laser tracking, plus other vehicle systems that can scan the movement of objects around it, identify a green light from a red light, or measure the trajectory of the car on the road.

Toyota’s goal at the AutoConnect Showcase was for guests to gain an appreciation for how focused Toyota is on developing systems capable of enhancing the driver’s awareness of his or her environment, and improving overall driving skills, with tools like adaptive cruise control, which will drive forward automotive communication technologies.

Toyota also continues to work toward the eventuality of autonomous vehicles as it leads the way in safety technology.
